Rowynn Ellis (formerly CCJ Ellis) is a fantasy illustrator and Author from Bangor, North Wales. Their work is inspired by fantasy and mythology, drawing from ancient Celtic culture. They work mainly with pen, ink and watercolour, Photoshop and ProCreate.

Rowynn attended University and achieved a Degree in Illustration and a Masters in Design Communication. They have launched several successful Kickstarters, one of which lead to the international publication of their first book 'Welsh Monsters & Mythical Beasts', which explores the creatures of Welsh folklore.
​
Over the years Rowynn has worked with clients such as Wizards of the Coast and Astra Publishing and have been featured in several online blogs and magazines; including Infected by Art, Imagine FX Magazine and Pencil Kings. They have also appeared on the BBC 'Wales Today' Show and Welsh TV channel S4C's arts program Y Lle’.

Currently Rowynn is working on a series of personal projects and continuing to explore, document and research dragons (and dragon-like creatures) from Welsh folklore. Their aim, to create more published resource books that take you on a journey through the symbolism, history and 'natural history' of Wales’ most renowned mythical creatures.

​In their spare time Rowynn has a passion for gardening, wild swimming, archery and supports the charity Wolf Watch UK.
